Best Time to Do Laundry in Princeton, Linden, and Hillsborough — How to Skip the Wait

Nobody Wants to Wait for a Washer

You show up with two bags of laundry, ready to knock it out — and every machine is taken. It's one of the most avoidable frustrations in laundry, and it almost always comes down to timing.

The good news: laundromats have very predictable busy and slow periods. Once you know the patterns, you can almost always walk in, grab a machine immediately, and be done in under an hour.

Here's what we've observed across our three Superwash locations in Linden, Princeton, and Hillsborough.

When It's Busiest (Times to Avoid)

Across all three locations, the peak windows are pretty consistent:

  • Saturday and Sunday mid-morning through early afternoon (10 AM–2 PM) — this is the busiest stretch of the week, every week. Weekends are when people who've put off laundry all week finally come in, and they all come at the same time.
  • Sunday evenings (5 PM–8 PM) — a secondary rush driven by people getting ready for the work week
  • Friday evenings — lighter than weekends but noticeably busier than weekday evenings

If you can avoid those windows, you're in good shape.

When It's Quietest (Best Times to Go)

  • Weekday mornings, especially Tuesday through Thursday (7 AM–10 AM) — this is consistently the slowest window at all three locations. Machines are almost always available, you'll have plenty of space to sort and fold, and you're in and out fast.
  • Weekday afternoons (1 PM–4 PM) — the mid-afternoon lull after the late-morning crowd clears out
  • Late weekday evenings — this is where Superwash Linden stands apart. We're open until midnight on weekdays, which gives you a real option that most laundromats in the area simply don't offer. Coming in at 9 or 10 PM on a Tuesday is often the fastest laundry experience you'll have all week.

Princeton: The 24-Hour Advantage

Our Princeton location on N Harrison St is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week — which changes the math on timing entirely. If you're a student, a shift worker, or someone who keeps irregular hours, you don't have to plan around anyone else's schedule. 2 AM on a Wednesday is a perfectly valid time to do laundry, and you'll have the place largely to yourself.

Hillsborough: Early Is Best

Our Hillsborough location on Route 206 opens at 7 AM daily. Getting in during that first hour — 7 to 8 AM — is almost always guaranteed to be uncrowded. It's a great option for anyone who wants to knock out laundry before work or before the day gets busy.

Tips to Make Any Laundry Trip Faster

Regardless of when you go, these habits will cut your time down noticeably:

  • Sort before you leave home. Walking in already sorted means you load machines immediately instead of standing at a folding table separating colors
  • Bring enough quarters or load a card. Having to hunt for change or make a trip to a change machine eats into your time and everyone else's
  • Use the largest machine that makes sense. Running one large load is always faster than running two medium loads
  • Start drying immediately when the wash finishes. Every minute the wet laundry sits in the washer is a minute added to your total time
  • Consider drop-off wash and fold. If time is the real issue, our wash and fold service at all three locations means you spend five minutes dropping off and five minutes picking up — and nothing in between

We're Built Around Your Schedule

The whole point of Superwash is that you shouldn't have to rearrange your life around laundry. Extended hours in Linden, 24-hour access in Princeton, and early opening in Hillsborough are all designed to give you real options — not just one narrow window on a Saturday afternoon.

  • Linden: 1025 W St Georges Ave, Suite 12 — open late weekdays
  • Princeton: 301 N Harrison St, Suite 22 — open 24 hours
  • Hillsborough: 601 US-206, Suite 18 — open daily 7 AM–10 PM
